    Description

Up for Purchase is this amazing rare find: a new and never installed open box Sanyo FT 1004 Audio Spec Underdash 8 Track Player!
This radio, along with a handful of other radio-related items that I'm selling, come from an old car restoration shop, and it's been sitting in safe storage since day one. It was originally purchased for a project that went in a different direction, and there it sat for decades.
You'll note that the box was opened, but the unit is very clearly never installed with that perfect cable bundle in the back and blemish-free bezel. It did collect a
    little
dust over the years with the box opened, of course, and the box has a little bit of shelf wear. The instructions have a little wear, too. Note that the serial number of the unit matches the box itself.
Here's what comes in that original box:
Sanyo FT 1004 Car Stereo w/ attached bracket mount
    (4x) Mounting Bolts + Nuts
    Fuse
    Black Cable + Accessory
    Instructions
    Stereo Guide
    Warranty Card
The first thing I looked for was a parts list that I could cross reference in the instructions, but there isn't one as far as I can tell. Perhaps that wasn't the norm in 1975. So, I scanned the instructions to look for any parts referenced that I
    didn't
see in the box on the off chance something was missing. As far as I can tell, everything is here, and you have a complete list of what
    is
included with this listing before you click buy either way.
Finally, like any 8-track, there's a tiny rubber belt involved in the mechanics. Those belts degrade over time, whether in use or not as you likely know, but they're also easily replaceable. I can't say whether this belt performs in new condition 45 years later, and I'm not going to install the radio to find out. By purchasing this radio, you acknowledge this common problem and accept that it may need to be replaced (but hopefully not!)
I think that covers it, but if you have additional questions, please ask. Expect quick shipment upon receipt of your payment. Thanks for looking!
