Description
NATIONAL AUDUBON SOCIETY WILDLIFE CONSERVATION STAMPS - Issued to help preserve and protect America's wildlife and wilderness habitats, issued by the Audubon Society and featuring four 4-page spreads on artist Michael Warren and 4 gorgeous 5-stamp plate blocks he created for this album, each of which has the very small printed price of .00 at type; text pages are protected in full hard plastic sleeves; the right side pages with the plate blocks are half-covered by hard plastic, with each block of stamps in a professional sleeve affixed to the page; mint condition (11.26125 x 10.3 x 1.5-inch sturdy leatherette album with bright gold lettering and water fowl illustration at front and bright waterfowl illustration at spine). The four sections are titled: 1985 & 1986 - WATERBIRDS AND WETLAND HABITATS (2 different plate blocks), 1987 - SONGBIRDS AND WOODLAND HABITATS, and 1988 - WATERFOWL AND WETLAND HABITATS. Artist Michael Warren, like the great James Audubon, traveled all over America to observe and paint endangered waterbirds. His stamps are details, vivid and beautiful. Each plate block has a large stamp in the center and two smaller stamps at each side. These are not regular U.S. postage stamps, but much scarcer commemorative stamps commissioned and issued to collectors by the Audubon Society.
There are no exact matches on eBay or Google. An eBay seller has photos of one of 2 subsequent albums issued by the Audubon society - same artists, format, and number of pages and plate blocks issued from 1989-2008. Also mint, the 2 albums are 9.95 with free shipping. I'm selling a rare mint copy of the 1st album in the series.
The Buy-It-Now price of .00 includes shipping bubble-wrapped in a cardboard box via media mail insured, which takes aorund 7 days with tracking, less in California.
