This is a vintage box for dispensing coil stamps. Coil stamps originated in the 1910s put together from sheets by private vending companies then ultimately being printed by the government in rolls with advent of the rotary press. This box has an inlaid fruitwood "pinwheel" design from the early 1900s Edwardian period. I cannot find anything remotely similar on-line. Specific age and origin is unknown. The interior surfaces are painted a clay color and it has a brass screwed fitting.

Significant flaws not depicted in the photos are described here-with, minor flaws and normal wear are not. Unless the item is described as new, assume there will be minor flaws or wear commensurate with a used item of given age.
